MNU hosts forum commemorating International Day of Happiness

Maldives National University (MNU) has held a forum in celebration of the International Day of Happiness, inviting the general public to participate in discussions surrounding this important theme.

Speaking to PSM News, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shameem highlighted the forum's significance in providing valuable insights on happiness-related information. Dr. Shameem emphasised the United Nations (UN) commemorates the International Day of Happiness to underscore the vital role of happiness in global well-being. He noted that countries worldwide measure human development index based on the happiness levels among their populations and often compile detailed reports to evaluate this crucial indicator.

Moreover, Dr. Shameem conveyed that the primary objective of celebrating the International Day of Happiness is to raise awareness about the nutritional, health, and social benefits associated with happiness within communities.

During the forum, three speakers, including MNU's part-time lecturer Azha Zameer, Chief Happiness Officer of Happiness Club Mohamed Shihab, and Dr. Ali Shameem, shared insights into the importance of happiness. The forum is an initiative by the Faculty of Arts at MNU.

The International Day of Happiness, officially declared by the UN General Assembly on July 12, 2012, is observed annually on March 20. This day serves as a global platform to promote happiness as a fundamental human goal and encourage actions that contribute to a happier and more fulfilling life for all individuals.
