The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced plans for Eid al-Fitr congregational prayers across various locations in the Male' region, as well as in Hulhumale' and Villimale'. In a bid to accommodate residents, six designated areas have been allocated for the prayers, ensuring accessibility and convenience for worshippers.
The designated locations for Eid al-Fitr congregational prayers are as follows:
Maafannu Stadium, Male'
Islamic Center and the surrounding area
King Salman Mosque and the surrounding area
Football Stadium, Villi Male'
Synthetic Track, Hulhumale' Phase I
Synthetic Track, Hulhumale' Phase II
In addition to facilitating prayer spaces, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced plans to hire personnel to provide tea and food, as well as sound engineers at the designated venues. This initiative aims to enhance the overall experience for worshippers and ensure a smooth and comfortable atmosphere during the prayers.
Furthermore, Eid al-Fitr prayers this year will begin at 0700hrs. The ministry acknowledged that Eid prayers in the Maldives are traditionally conducted in large congregations at public squares, accompanied by Eid sermons. However, concerns regarding intense heat during the sermon prompted considerations for adjusting the timing of the prayers to ensure the well-being of worshippers.
As per the Gregorian Calendar, Eid al-Fitr falls on Wednesday, April 10th, marking the end of Ramadan.
