Tourist arrivals from top five leading nations reach 200,00

The Ministry of Tourism has disclosed that the Maldives has welcomed over 200,000 tourist arrivals this year from the top five visitor nations.

Recent statistics released by the tourism ministry indicate that the predominant source countries for tourists are China, Russia, Italy, the United Kingdom (UK), and Germany.

A cumulative total of 212,817 tourists have explored the Maldives from these nations so far. In total, 466,273 tourists have visited the Maldives in the current year, reflecting a notable 15.2% increase compared to the corresponding period last year, which witnessed 404,898 tourist arrivals.

The data further revealed that February experienced an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals in the Maldives, with a tally exceeding 200,000. With the government's ambitious target of welcoming two million tourists this year, the overall number of visitors to the Maldives has already surpassed the 400,000 mark.

To achieve the objective of exceeding two million visitors, the government has outlined various initiatives to enhance tourism in the Maldives throughout the year.
