Maldives participates in IT Berlin 2024

Maldives has participated in ITB Berlin 2024, featuring a delegation of 214 representatives from 107 Maldivian tourism companies. The event, held from March 5-7, 2024, in Berlin, Germany, saw collaboration between the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the Minister of Tourism, Ministry delegates, and various government tourism bodies.

MMPRC aimed to strengthen ties with global travel trade partners, especially from Germany, and showcase the latest developments in the Maldivian tourism landscape. In-person one-on-one meetings were a crucial aspect of this engagement, with a focus on solidifying the Maldives' status as a premier holiday destination for German travelers.

The Maldives stand, spanning 504 sqm, featured a captivating double-decker design, offering visitors a glimpse into the diverse experiences, rich culture, and heritage of the Maldives. With 104 co-exhibitor counters, 60 B2B meeting tables, and immersive LED screens displaying mesmerizing experiences, the stand aimed to leave a lasting impression on attendees.

The Maldives stand served as a hub for engaging activities, including B2B meetings, cultural performances, gastronomic experiences, and displays of authentic Maldivian creations. Beyond the stand, events such as the Maldives Media Meet on March 5th connected with leading media representatives, providing them with destination updates and showcasing the government's commitment to diversification, sustainability, and new initiatives.

Germany has consistently been among the top 10 markets for the Maldives, holding the 5th spot with 27,563 visitors till March 3, 2024. Visit Maldives has an extensive marketing strategy for Germany, encompassing social media campaigns, joint marketing programs with tour operators, collaborations with the German Travel Association (IMM Germany), targeted airline campaigns, familiarization trips for travel professionals, and advertising in high-end print media.

ITB Berlin, as a leading travel trade fair, offered an ideal platform for Visit Maldives to showcase the country on a global stage. With over 160,000 visitors and connections to more than 90,000 industry delegates and 3,000 international media representatives, the event allowed the Maldives to reach a vast audience, promote responsible and sustainable tourism, and foster valuable partnerships. Visit Maldives aimed to highlight the Maldives' unparalleled beauty, diverse offerings, and commitment to responsible tourism at this prestigious event.
