The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has launched a specialised e-commerce platform named "Maha" to support and empower small and medium enterprises in the fisheries sector. Launched as part of the government's Week 14 roadmap commitments, the portal aims to facilitate women and young entrepreneurs in selling fisheries products.
The portal, inaugurated by SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) Managing Director Aishath Fifsheen Ali, is now open for registration by those interested.
During the launch event, Minister of State for Economic Development and Trade, Hussain Zamir, highlighted that the "Maha" portal provides a platform for producers of fish, fish products, and related items to sell their products and generate income from anywhere. He underscored the government's dedication to fostering economic development, particularly by promoting small and medium enterprises.
Deputy Managing Director of BCC, Saamih Adam, reiterated BCC's commitment to promoting local manufacturing and creating opportunities for local products in both domestic and international markets. He mentioned that the e-commerce portal is open to all local producers, and its primary goal is to offer competitive business opportunities to manufacturers across the country in the fisheries sector.
The portal is designed to streamline the process for businesses to sell goods and facilitate seamless communication between buyers and producers. BCC believes that the "Maha" platform will encourage the creation of innovative products, leveraging the technical and creative thinking of individuals in the industry.
