President plans to lower Maldivian's surfboard transport fees

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to decrease the fee for transporting surfboards via the national airline, Maldivian. He made the decision during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

During the session, Ahmed Rasheed, a resident of Gadhdhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, raised concerns to President Dr. Muizzu regarding the high fees imposed by the national airline for transporting surfboards. He emphasised the significance of surfing as a growing tourism activity and highlighted the challenges faced by local businesses due to the steep fees.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu acknowledged the issue, recognising the burden posed by the current fee structure. He pledged to lower the fees, citing the adverse impact they have on surf-related businesses. In addition, he underscored the importance of surfing to the development of Gadhdhoo, emphasising its integral role in the Maldives' tourism and economy.
