The participants of the Savaadheehtha Yacht Rally have explored three islands in Laamu Atoll.
Commenced on February 10 with 55 passengers aboard 10 yachts, the rally encompasses vessels from Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), France, and Finland. Their journey commenced with a visit to Fulidhoo, Vaavu Atoll, followed by Mulah, Meemu Atoll. The rally's itinerary includes stops at seven islands in the southern Maldives.
The initial stop in Laamu Atoll was Gan, where participants received a warm island welcome. Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Fathimath Thaufeeq graced the welcoming ceremony.
Next on the itinerary was Fonadhoo, Laamu Atoll, which greeted participants with traditional Maldivian songs and cultural hospitality. Participants explored notable sites on the island, including the local school, before indulging in a Maldivian feast, well-received by all. Subsequently, the rally moved on to Baresdhoo, Laamu Atoll, where participants enjoyed leisurely activities such as swimming and relaxation.
The Savaadheehtha Yacht Rally stands as the largest tourism event promoting cultural exchange and tourism. This year marks its 3rd edition, continuing until February 29. Notably, it will be the first rally to cross the equator, as announced by the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC).
