President plans to change appointment system in government hospitals

President Dr. Mohamed has announced plans to change the appointment system in government hospitals, ensuring that patients will be informed of their appointment dates. He made the announcement during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

During the series, Adam Abdulla from Maabaidhoo, Laamu Atoll, voiced his concerns to President Dr. Muizzu regarding the difficulty in securing appointments and the prolonged waiting times to see a doctor despite scheduling appointments.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu outlined efforts to change the system. He also pledged transparency in appointment scheduling and a focus on optimising doctor-patient interaction.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the government's commitment to strengthening the healthcare system, emphasising the prioritisation of recruiting local healthcare specialists and bridging gaps by bringing in experts from abroad where necessary.

Enhancing the healthcare system in the Maldives remains a key agenda for President Dr. Muizzu's administration. Initiatives include establishing tertiary hospitals across the nation and specialised facilities for treating various diseases. In addition, arrangements are being made for citizens to access healthcare abroad through the government's universal healthcare insurance scheme, Aasandha, until local services are fully operational.
