Gov't to build indoor sports complex in Rasdhoo this year

Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has announced that the commencement of construction for an indoor sports complex in Rasdhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, is slated for this year. He made the statement during the inauguration ceremony of the Rasdhoo Sports Club.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Rafiu emphasised the significance of indoor complexes and underscored their importance during national and international tournaments held in the Maldives. He stressed the strategic planning of sports activities to bolster the Maldivian economy, proposing the hosting of international tournaments across various atolls.

Additionally, Minister Rafiu outlined plans for the development of an indoor complex in Rasdhoo within the current year, aiming to enhance sports facilities in the region. He also assured the prompt resumption of the stalled volleyball court project.

The envisioned sports complexes in the Maldives are poised to accommodate international-level tournaments in handball, netball, volleyball, and basketball. The facilities are designed to cater to the needs of athletes while ensuring comfortable accommodation for visitors.
