Maldives records highest daily tourist arrivals

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that the highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives in a single day so far this year was recorded on February 3.

The latest statistics published by the tourism ministry show that 8,900 arrivals were recorded on February 3, marking the peak in daily tourist visits for this year. It is the highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives since the border was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous record for single-day arrivals was on December 23 with 8,054 visits. Prior to this year, the highest number of daily tourist arrivals were recorded in 2019 with 9,000 visits.

The statistics also show that the largest number of tourists visited from China with 28,304 arrivals while 23,749 tourists visited from Italy, 23,399 visited from Russia, 19,897 tourists visited from the United Kingdom (UK), and 17,794 visited from India.

The government aims to attract two million tourists this year. However, it is expected that the actual number of tourists will exceed expectations, reaching 2.3 million.
