The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced the opening of applications for 200 scholarships provided by the Chinese government.
The initiative follows the offer of 1,000 scholarships extended to the Maldives by the Chinese government during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit to China in January. The allocation of the scholarships spans five years, with 200 Maldivians set to benefit each year. The scholarships, exclusively for master's degree courses, will be fully funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council.
The ministry stated that interested individuals are urged to submit their online applications before April 15. The ministry's website will provide further information on available scholarships, courses, and guidelines for the application process.
The ministry advises selected candidates to verify the recognition of the institute offering the course by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) and ensure the chosen course is also recognized by the MQA before embarking on their studies, to ensure a smooth educational experience. In addition, individuals selected for professional or licensing courses are encouraged to confirm the recognition of the course by the relevant authorities before commencing their educational journey.
