Most of sports ministry's USD10 million debts paid

The Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has stated that the ministry was USD10 million in debt when the new administration took over but most the amount has now been repaid.

Speaking at the Ahaa Forum, Minister Rafiu said that the sports ministry had been awarded 232 projects when the new administration took over. He detailed that the projects had a total value of USD39 million, which is equivalent to the ministry's budget for two years.

Additionally, Minister Rafiu said the ministry's debt reached USD10 million. However, USD8 million has been paid in the last two months since the new administration took office.

Furthermore, Minister Rafiu said the new administration has commenced 131 sports-related projects. He also said that two important pledges in the 14-week roadmap has been fulfilled for athletes. In addition, the sports ministry has commenced four major projects and is working on a long-term plan to promote sports.
