Islamic Ministry formulates action plan to fulfill pledges

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has formulated an action plan to fulfill the presidential pledges concerning religious affairs.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the action plan will be used to implement the religious policies in the President's manifesto. He added that the plan has been approved by the ministry and will be announced and published on the website later this week. In addition to the long-term objectives, the plan also includes the preliminary work to be done to commence large projects.

Building a generation that reveres Islam and is adherent to religious practices is a high priority for the new administration. The government's religious policy also includes facilitating free Hajj pilgrimages for 1,000 underprivileged individuals, strengthening the Islamic education system, teaching the Arabic language and expanding religious education and morality.

The policy also includes expanding the scope of Zakat and Waqf, expanding religious education courses and establishing facilities throughout the country. In addition, the government plans to construct a new building for Arabiyya School, establish religious education centers, develop human resources and form important committees as part of its religious policy.
