President instructs authorities to reform emergency transfer protocols

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has instructed the relevant authorities to reform the protocols on the emergency transfers of patients. President Muizzu gave the instructions following the tragic incident that led to the death of a 13-year-old.

In a press release, President Muizzu expressed deep sadness in learning of the death of 13-year-old Mohamed Jaah Khalid Villingili, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, as he was being treated at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Following the tragic incident, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to Mohamed Jaah Khalid's parents and family.

Additionally, President Muizzu requested a thorough review from the relevant authorities of the preceding events during the patient’s emergency transfer from Vilingili to Male' City. He additionally implored the authorities to revise and modify the current protocols surrounding the emergency transfers of patients requiring immediate medical attention to prevent such incidents henceforth.

Furthermore, President Muizzu directed Island Aviation Services Limited to establish a protocol prioritising timely patient transportation for critical patients without requiring the completion of the approval process by administrative bodies, such as Aasandha.
