HDC reinstates its brand name and logo

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has reinstated its brand name and logo.

Despite being rebranded as Urbanco in April last year, HDC has not pursued legal recognition under the name. In a special ceremony commemorating the reinstatement of the HDC name and logo, the company officially switched its main name board from Urbanco to HDC.

During the ceremony, Managing Director of HDC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed explained that the decision to revert to the HDC name was made with the intention of delivering services to the public under that familiar identity. He emphasised the commitment of the company to expanding public services and ensuring convenient access to facilities.

HDC clarified that it opted to use the legal name "HDC" instead of the brand name "Urbanco" to alleviate customer confusion regarding the corporation's identity. The official name, HDC, continued to be used for various legal purposes.

HDC was established in 2001 and stands as the most experienced corporation in the country within the realm of urban development. Notable projects in its portfolio include the development of Hulhumale', Kudagiri picnic island, and Urban Isle. The corporation is actively engaged in ongoing projects such as the development of Thilafushi, Ras Male', and Hulhumale' Phase III.

HDC underscores its commitment to prioritising economically viable projects in accordance with the expectations of the residents. The corporation aims to foster socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable development in the cities it endeavors to develop.
