Tourism Ministry, MMPRC to make China top source market

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed its intention to collaborate with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to make China the top source market for tourist arrivals.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister Ibrahim Faisal said the tourism ministry and MMPRC will soon launch 'destination' marketing activities in various provinces of China. He said the activities will provide opportunities to Maldivian tour operators and stakeholders to market their products.

As such, Minister Faisal said they will focus on increasing activities in China, including commencing direct flight operations with more airlines. He expressed confidence that China will become the top source market for tourist arrivals once more.

Additionally, Minister Faisal said that increasing marketing activities in China will assist in achieving the government's goal of attracting two million tourists this year. He made the assessment based on the close relationship between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the government of China as well as the plans formulated by the two countries. He further said that the government will be able to overcome the challenges faced in tourism and take the industry to a new level.
