Maldives sees 12% rise in tourist arrivals in 2023, a record high

The Maldives Immigration has revealed that the Maldives experienced a 12% increase in tourist arrivals in 2023 compared to 2022, marking the highest number of arrivals ever recorded in the Maldives.

The latest statistics released by Immigration show that that a total of 1.9 million tourists visited the Maldives in 2023, which is a 12% increase compared to the 1.7 million arrivals in 2022. The statistics further highlight an average daily increase of 6,280 tourists throughout 2023, with the peak day witnessing 8,054 arrivals and even the lowest day recording 4,967 arrivals.

Currently, the Maldives has 1,145 operational tourist establishments, offering over 61,000 beds, including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards. The country achieved a significant milestone by welcoming the 1.8 millionth tourist and surpassing the previous record. The government aims to attract two million tourists this year.
