MNDF initiates survey to assess flood damage

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has commenced a survey to identify and assess damages caused by heavy rains in the city on December 31.

The MNDF Male' Area Command is conducting the survey, focusing on pinpointing affected houses, mapping their locations, and proposing immediate measures to mitigate future flood damage. The survey is set to continue until January 8.

Simultaneously, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is actively engaged in assessing the impact of the rains. 164 houses have been reported as damaged due to flooding, according to the agency.

In response to the situation, the government has taken swift action by providing temporary shelter to 46 individuals from 11 households affected by the heavy rains and floods in the city on December 31.
