Medical checkups will reduce costs under Aasandha scheme: NSPA

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) Heena Waleedh has stated that the incurred costs under the Aasandha scheme will be decreased following the initiation of free medical check-ups.

Speaking to PSM News, Heena assured that the quality of medical check-up services will be enhanced, with the service being introduced in government hospitals and health facilities. She highlighted the convenience the initiative would bring, eliminating the need for individuals to wait in long queues for medical check-up services.

Additionally, Heena stated that medical check-up services would be accessible in government hospitals, health centres, and various health service providers nationwide. She also urged individuals who have registered for the medical check-up to receive the services.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Aasandha Aiminath Zeeniya addressed the ongoing discussions about the cost of health services. She stated that Aasandha had decided to review the prices of health services provided both domestically and internationally, aligning them with recommended rates and including those from institutions like the World Bank. She also emphasised the importance of setting realistic prices for health services packages and making it a top priority for Aasandha.

In line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to building a healthy generation, the government has launched a medical checkup programme to detect early signs of serious illnesses and reduce the overall cost associated with such health conditions.
