President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new school is the beginning of the development of Hulhumale' Phase II.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, President Muizzu said that developing the education sector is one of the most important policies of his administration, as it is linked to the country's wellbeing. He also said that minds should be developed as much as buildings for optimal progress.
Additionally, President Muizzu said the school development project is being conducted under a contractor finance agreement between the Ministry of Education and Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Private Limited (RCC). He expressed hope that the work on the foundation will begin in January and the entire project will be completed within 18 months.
Furthermore, President Muizzu noted that Hulhumale' Phase II has not been given much attention but that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new school is the beginning of the development of the Phase II area. As such, he said that parks, squares, buildings for various social and economic purposes will be built in the area.
President Muizzu also highlighted efforts to install more elevators at the Hiya towers as part of his pledge to make Phase II a comfortable place for residents to live. He said that agreements are being made to install two more elevators in the towers, adding that the work will start during his first 14 weeks in office and that further housing problems will be addressed.
Moreover, President Miuzzu vowed to speed up the pace of the unfinished infrastructure projects in the education sector. He also said that the government will prioritise developing the infrastructure needed in the education sector as well as developing talented Maldivian teachers.
