MNDF search for Naeesh continues

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has announced their search operation for Mohamed Naeesh still remains unsuccessful. The 18-years old was reported missing on December 21, around 2210hrs.

MNDF said the search for Addu city teen covered 23.46 square nautical miles by air, 490 square nautical miles by sea and 1 square nautical mile by dive.

Speaking to PSM News, MNDF Southern Area Command Commander Colonel Mohamed Jamshaad disclosed that the incident was reported by Mohamed Shiman, who was accompanying Naeesh at sea. Colonel Jamshaad further mentioned that Shiman swam to the Southern Area Command. MNDF also revealed that Naeesh was wearing a white colored long sleeve shirt.

An aircraft of Maldives Aviation Academy is currently engaged in the aerial search for the missing youth. Jamshad stated that efforts are underway to locate Naeesh despite challenging weather conditions in Addu City.

Authorities have urged vehicles traveling in the vicinity and islands of the area to be vigilant and check for any information regarding Naeesh. Individuals with relevant information are requested to promptly contact the MNDF Coast Guard through the toll-free numbers 191 or 3395981 and 3398898.
