Vocational programmes to be integrated in schools next year: Gov't

The Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has announced the integration of vocational programmes across all schools in the Maldives starting from the next academic year. He made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the vocational hub called 'Hunaru Vehi' located at Huravee School. The initiative is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).

The primary objective of the vocational hub is to provide training for students interested in both life skills and employment. The hub aims to impart various job-related skills and create opportunities for practical training and hands-on experience.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shafeeu said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration is committed to building a skilled and capable generation. As such, vocational skill training programmes will be integrated into the education system across all schools in the country starting from the next academic year. He also assured equal participation opportunities for every student, with the goal of ensuring that each graduate possesses valuable skills.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of MACL Ibrahim Shareef affirmed the company's ongoing support for the nation's efforts to train skilled workers. He highlighted the significance of such programmes in shaping a future generation capable of leading companies. He also mentioned plans for conducting apprenticeship programmes for grade 10 students in the future.
