The Special Advisor to the President Abdul Raheem Abdulla has made the decision to contest in the 2024 parliamentary election.
Abdul Raheem, who is also the Chairperson of the People's National Congress (PNC), has chosen to contest for the Fonadhoo Constituency seat. He is also seeking the full support of the constituency's members in his bid for election.
Raheem had previously served two terms as the representative of Fonadhoo constituency, in the 17th and 18th Parliament. Despite contesting the election for the current session, he lost to Moosa Siraj. Notably, Siraj was formerly a member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) until he joined PNC during the presidential election in September. He was recently appointed as the Leader of the Parliamentary Group (PG) for PNC.
