President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has submitted three nominations for ambassadors to the Parliament for approval.
President Muizzu submitted the name of Mohamed Hussain Shareef to be appointed as the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dr. Iruthisham Adam to be appointed as Ambassador to the United Kingdom (UK), and Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed to be appointed as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN).
Hussain Shareef is currently the Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as the Spokesperson at the President's Office during President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's administration. He has also served as the Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of the President's Office and Ambassador to Japan and Sri Lanka.
Dr. Iruthisham Adam has served as the Ambassador to the UN, Sri Lanka, and Switzerland and the Maldives' Representative to the World Trade Organization. She has also served as health minister and youth minister during President Abdulla Yameen's administration.
Dr. Ali Naseer served as the Special Representative to the UN from 2017 until the end of President Yameen's administration. He has also served as Ambassador to the United States and Canada. He joined the foreign sector in 1988 and holds a PhD in Diplomacy.
