President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promoted Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef to the rank of Lieutenant General.
President Muizzu gave the medal to Chief of Defence Force Latheef at a special ceremony held at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) headquarters. Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon presented the defence chief with the certificate of promotion.
Chief of Defence Force Major General Latheef has become the third Lieutenant General in the Maldives military history. Others who have received the rank include Lieutenant General (retired) Anbari Abdul Sattar and Lieutenant General (retired) Abdulla Shamaal.
