The parliamentary government oversight committee has approved the 22 members of the government's cabinet. The committee has also decided to separately submit the names of each minister to the floor for voting.
During the committee meeting, the members agreed that the Parliament should approve the new cabinet ministers and allow President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to run his government under the powers conferred on him by the Constitution. The committee members unanimously approved the 22 ministers and decided to allow the Parliament to vote on them separately, as proposed by Parliamentarian Mohamed Shifau.
The committee evaluated the ministers to ensure they were qualified to fulfill their responsibilities as stipulated in the Constitution. The President's Office also shared information related to the committee's work to confirm whether they have dual passports or citizenship of another country.
The committee also conducted a review of the ministers' backgrounds, including their criminal records, pending court cases, and financial liabilities. The members of the committee have confirmed that none of the ministers were found to have any such issues.
