Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has established a new taxi drop-off point at Velana International Airport (VIA).
The new drop-off point is located at the northern corner of the domestic terminal. MACL has provided a diagram illustrating the updated traffic flow. The company expressed confidence that the new route will enhance the overall experience for passengers using the domestic terminal.
MACL requested drivers to adhere to the road signage and follow instructions from its staff and police officers along the revised route. It stated that this adjustment does not impact any existing passenger pick-up, drop-off points or accessible areas from any other vehicles in Hulhule'.
Speaking to journalists, Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said the decision was made after holding discussions with the management of the airport to make it as easy as possible for passengers. He said the change is expected to reduce the burden on airport operations.
Additionally, Shareef said the airport services will be significantly improved following the development of roads. This includes establishing a new drop-off point at the domestic terminal arrival area.
Morever, MACL stated that it will improve its monitoring operations to reduce queues for taxis and private cars. The new management is also working to solve various other challenges faced by passengers.
