President says confident of winning supermajority in Parliament

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed confidence about the People’s National Congress (PNC) securing a supermajority in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary election. The remarks were made during the inauguration of the new PNC office, attended by coalition leaders from both PNC and the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM).

The new office is situated on the seventh floor of the Sea Tracks Building near the Customs Office. The inauguration ceremony marks the first political event President Dr. Muizzu attended following the presidential election.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Muizzu declared the official commencement of efforts to win the parliamentary election with the establishment of the new office. He called upon the PPM/PNC coalition to approach the election with determination, expressing confidence in their ability to secure victory if they work together.

Additionally, President Muizzu said that all party members and citizens are equal in their efforts. He also said that the intention in their collective endevour should be to approach the work with a national mindset, viewing it as a matter of national importance. He expressed confidence in the coalition's continued success in their endeavors.
