Gov't ends policy of accepting proposals without bid invitations

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has repealed the government's policy of accepting proposals without invitations to bid.

The policy of submitting proposals to the government without bidding was introduced in 2019 by the previous government. The policy was implemented in order to conduct government projects or projects to be carried out with foreign grants or concessional loans with a contractor chosen by the president following the recommendation of the Cabinet or Cabinet committee without bidding.

The policy was formulated under the finance regulations. The then-government stated that, under the policy, contractors were given the initiative to submit proposals to conduct projects aligned with the government's development plan before a specific project is announced.
