President Muizzu appointed as ruling coalition leader

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been appointed as the Leader of the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC) coalition.

The decision to appoint President Dr. Muizzu as the coalition leader was unanimously agreed upon during the sixth senate meeting of the Progressive Congress Coalition Joint Senate. The meeting took place in the new PNC office.

President Dr. Muizzu was also appointed as the President of PNC, while Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef took on the role of Vice President for the party on October 4, following the presidential election.

The previous leader of the PPM/PNC coalition was former President Abdulla Yameen, who recently departed from PPM to establish his own political entity named the People's National Front (PNF) on November 23, citing internal disagreements as the reason for his departure.
