Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has visited the Qujing Tongquan Wind Farm in Kunming, Yunnan Province in China. He is in China on an official visit to attend the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation.
During the visit, Vice President Latheef toured the wind farm’s control centre and inquired about the facility's operations. The Tongquan Wind Farm Project is one of the 20 wind power projects in Yunnan Province's new energy plan. The Maldives recently announced its ambitious plan to develop renewable energy systems capable of providing 33% of the nation's electrical needs within the next five years.
Vice President is also scheduled to address the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation' organised by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). He is being accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, at the forum scheduled for December 7–8 in China.
