The Democrats aims to reach 10,000 members by year-end

The President of The Democrats Hassan Latheef has stated the party aims to achieve a membership count of 10,000 by the end of the year.

Speaking to PSM News, Latheef underscored that the internal elections have successfully assigned members to various positions within the party, adding that increasing the party's membership is currently the top priority. He also expressed confidence in the party's growing credibility among the public, anticipating an increase in membership as the party solidifies its organisational structure in accordance with its constitution.

Additionally, Latheef provided details of the party's ongoing activities such as the preparations for the mayoral election and the 2024 parliamentary election. He said that The Democrats is set to contest 93 seats in the upcoming parliamentary election, with an aim of securing 25-30 constituencies.

Furthermore, Latheef affirmed the party's commitment to making decisions in adherence to democratic laws and regulations, advocating for The Democrats to be an example of good decision-making in the Maldives. He also outlined the goal of positioning the Democrats as one of the largest political parties in the Maldives by 2024.
