Over 1.7 million tourist arrivals so far this year

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that more than 1.7 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2023.

The statistics from the tourism ministry show that 1,703,204 tourists arrived in the Maldives as of December 3, which is an increase of 12.9% compared to the 1.5 million arrivals recorded in the same month in 2022.

The largest number of tourists visited the Maldives from Russia with 193,269 arrivals, while 185,987 tourists visited from India, 176,803 visited from China, and 139,867 visited from the United Kingdom (UK). In addition, 124,052 visited from Germany, 101,194 visited from Italy, 67,238 visited from the United States (US), 44,442 visited from France, and 37,420 visited from Spain, and 33,991 visited from Switzerland. A total of 1,261 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 63,644 beds, according to the tourism ministry.

The government stated that it aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists by the end of this year and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourist arrivals.
