Moosa Siraj elected as PNC PG leader

Parliamentarian Moosa Siraj has been elected as the Leader of the Parliamentary Group (PG) for the People's National Congress (PNC).

The announcement of Siraj's appointment as PG Leader was informed to the Parliament by PNC. Notably, Siraj was initially elected to Parliament under the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket and became a member of PNC during the presidential election campaign.

Parliamentarian Adam Shareef Umar held the position of PG Leader in the previous government. However, with the establishment of the new government, Shareef resigned from Parliament to assume the responsibilities of the Minister of Cities and Local Government and Public Works. In addition, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who replaced Shareef as PG Leader, resigned from Parliament to take on the role of Managing Director of Urbanco. As such, Siraj was elected to fill the vacant position of PG Leader following Rasheed's resignation.

Presently, two PNC members represent the government in Parliament, namely Parliamentarian Ibrahim Naseem and Siraj. Naseem, initially elected as an independent member of Parliament, joined PNC during the transition period after the presidential election.
