President meets Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held held discussions with 8th Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This rendezvous took place on the sidelines of the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

During the meeting, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan extended warm congratulations to President Dr. Muizzu on his assumption of office. He expressed a keen interest in fortifying bilateral relations between the Maldives and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic ties.

Both leaders engaged in substantive discussions on mutual interests and shared values, exploring diverse areas for potential cooperation. A notable outcome of their deliberations was the agreement to collaborate on President Dr. Muizzu's commitment to plant 5 million trees in the Maldives. This joint initiative reflects the shared environmental consciousness of both nations.
