Maldives holds discussions with Antigua and Barbuda

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has held meeting with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This encounter took place on the sidelines of the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

The discussions between President Dr. Muizzu and Prime Minister Browne were centred on key priority areas for both Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with a particular emphasis on environmental issues, climate change, and collaborative efforts in the tourism sector.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Browne extended a gracious invitation to the president to attend the 4th Conference of Small Island Developing States, scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda in May 2024.

The leaders concluded the meeting by expressing their eagerness to foster deeper collaboration between the Maldives and Antigua and Barbuda. This commitment reflects the shared vision for mutual growth and development.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Antigua and Barbuda were formally established on March 25, 2002, laying the foundation for continued cooperation and diplomatic engagement.
