President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has temporarily delegated the responsibilities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare to Minister of Defense, Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.
Dr. Aishath Rameela, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, has been on leave abroad since November 23, 2023. Dr. Rameela shared on social media that she is currently undergoing treatment for advanced-stage cancer. In a heartfelt message, the minister has requested the support and prayers of all well-wishers during this challenging time.
Minister of Defense will oversee the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare during Dr. Aishath Rameela's absence and will continue in this role until her return.
