Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has expressed that increasing the income of fishermen stands as the foremost concern for President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu currently. He made the statement in response to a letter posted on social media from a fisherman.
Speaking in the letter, the fisherman highlighted unfulfilled promises from the previous government regarding various aspects, including the inability to cover their children's tuition fees, interval meals, Quran classes, and bills. The letter also served as a reminder of the commitments made by President Dr. Muizzu during his electoral campaign.
In his response on social media, Minister Shiyam expressed gratitude to the fishermen for voicing their concerns through online platforms. He conveyed President Dr. Muizzu's assurance that the challenges faced by fishermen are receiving utmost attention, with efforts underway to provide a quick resolution.
Additionally, Minister Shiyam assured that the administration remains committed to fulfilling its commitments to the public. He said that a lasting solution to the fishing industry's challenges would be promptly identified under President Dr. Muizzu's administration.
