President reiterates commitment to prioritise Maldivians

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the administration's commitment to prioritise the interests of Maldivians. He made the statement while speaking at a meeting with the Maldivian community residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Addressing the gathering, President Muizzu said that the administration is committed to working collaboratively with the Maldivian people and would actively seek their input and feedback. The President noted that decisions would be made in such a way that it addresses the needs of the people.

Additionally, President Muizzu assured that the administration will utilise a policy to enhance the services extended to Maldivians residing overseas. He further underscored that the operations of the respective diplomatic outposts would be strategically aligned to foster effective collaboration with Maldivians and to prioritise the needs of Maldivian communities abroad. In addition, the President noted that the administration is committed to ensuring that all newly appointed ambassadors to foreign nations will be oriented towards better serving the people.

Speaking with the Maldivian community, President Muizzu announced that the administration's highest priority is to promote nationalism. He said that the newly established Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage is mandated with collaborating with the embassies and consulates abroad, to ensure that initiatives are planned to incorporate Dhivehi language and Islam into programmes for Maldivians residing abroad.

Furthermore, President Muizzu detailed the necessity of advancing religious education and early childhood nurturing by assigning diplomatic outposts the additional task of teaching Dhivehi and Islam subjects, beyond their conventional duties. He revealed plans to broaden the administration's efforts to rekindle nationalism beyond the borders of the Maldives, aiming to reach all Maldivians residing overseas. He then articulated a vision of elevating the Maldivian identity to a level of esteemed recognition.
