Ungoofaaru Islamic Centre to operate IUM campus

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has revealed that the Islamic Centre in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll, has been authorised to operate the Islamic University Maldives (IUM) campus in the northernmost region of the country.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Vice Chancellor of IUM Dr. Ali Zahir bin Saeed Qasim. During the ceremony, Minister Shaheem expressed that initiating IUM courses at the Ungoofaaru Islamic Centre, named after Dr. Afrasheem Ali, would be a commendable service in his memory.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Zahir highlighted the significance of extending educational opportunities to all parts of the country. He highlighted that the campus would open opportunities for a considerable number of students in Raa Atoll to pursue higher education. He also stressed the importance of collaboration, stating that the initiative provides a valuable chance for students from other islands in Raa Atoll to partake in IUM courses.
