Türkiye discusses reducing tariff for Maldivian fish exports

Türkiye has discussed reducing tariff for Maldivian fish exports. The discussion was held during a meeting between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Minister of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye Mehmet Simsek.

During the meeting, President Muizzu shared his ambitious plan to further strengthen and expand the Maldivian economy which includes accelerating the completion of Velana International Airport development project, increasing air connectivity, and establishing partnerships in the tourism, education, and travel industries.

In a post on X, Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer said they also discussed avenues for cooperation between the Maldives and Türkiye in the fields of agriculture, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, including reducing the tariff for Maldivian fish exports to Türkiye. He expressed confidence that the new administration will see new impetus in Maldives-Türkiye cooperation in all these areas.
