Zeena Zahir appointed as Managing Director of PSM

Zeena Zahir has been appointed as the Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM). Zeena is the first woman to be appointed to the position.

Zeena has years of experience in the media industry since joining the field in 2006. She had worked as a senior reporter for Miadhu Daily before joining VTV as a video journalist and presenter in 2007, where she stayed for over three years. Her specialties as a journalist included reporting on parliamentary news and political news and analysis as well as producing and presenting news and current affairs programmes.

Zeena has completed extensive training in media in the Maldives and abroad. She achieved her higher education in marketing management and administration. She achieved a Diploma in Marketing Management (ABE Level 5) in 2014, a Diploma in Marketing Management (ABE Level 6) in 2017 and a Master of Business Administration from Avid College in 2020.

Zeena has also served as Vice President of South Asian Women Media, as well as Council Member and Spokesperson of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP). She was also Assistant Manager of Maldives Ports Limited and a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission for four years and seven months. The membership of the broadcasting commission is appointed by the president.

Additionally, Zeena is a documentary filmmaker and writer. She also has an online website called XeeTimes which is dedicated to bringing exclusive detailed profiles and information on social and cultural concerns. In the past two years, XeeTimes has published 1,300 articles, of which 500 are written by Zeena herself. She has also been awarded the Rehendhi Award in recognition of her contributions to societal and national development on behalf of women
