Türkiye discusses training Maldivians in national defence, health, medicine

Türkiye has discussed providing training opportunities to Maldivians in national defence, health, medicine. The discussion was held during a courtesy call paid by President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities of Türkiye Abdullah Eren on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the Presidential Guesthouse in Türkiye.

During the meeting, Eren warmly welcomed President Muizzu and conveyed his congratulations on the President's recent assumption of office. The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and Türkiye, particularly in the fields of education and social culture. They also discussed potential scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students and underscored the importance of advancing vocational training within the tourism sector.

At the call, both President Dr Muizzu and the President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities, emphasised the need for training Maldivians in areas such as national defence, health, and medicine. In addition they spoke on expanding enrollments in specialized training programs tailored for mid-career professionals.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Türkiye were established on May 28, 1979. President Muizzu is currently on an official visit to Türkiye at the invitation of the Turkish President. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level Maldivian delegation comprising senior government officials are accompanying the President on the visit.
