Maldivians no longer required to fill Traveler Declaration form

Maldives Immigration has announced that Maldivian citizens are no longer required to complete the Traveler Declaration form upon their arrival or departure from the country.

Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shamaan Waheed made the decision to discontinue the form with the primary goal of enhancing overall traveler experience. The form was discontinued after over three years since its initial introduction.

The Traveler Declaration form was Initially implemented on July 15, 2020, as the Travel Health Declaration form as part of measures to strengthen border security during the COVID-19 pandemic. The form underwent a name change to Traveler Declaration on March 14, 2021 after transitioning into an online embarkation/disembarkation form, required to be filled out through the IMUGA portal by all individuals entering or exiting the Maldives.

Immigration stated that the decision to discontinue the form was prompted by numerous complaints citing it as a travel inconvenience. Immigration has also expressed its commitment to delivering more convenient immigration services to the public.
