The President's Office has disclosed the discovery of over 100 bilateral agreements the previous government has made with India within the past five years.
At a press conference, Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul said that the new administration would annul any decisions undermining the nation's sovereignty made by previous administrations. He also disclosed the discovery of over 100 bilateral agreements within the past five years, which are currently under examination. He said they do not include any agreements related to the development projects.
Additionally, Firzul said the government intends to make public the specifics of the agreements, as long as such disclosure does not compromise national sovereignty. He also highlighted the government's decision to nullify any clauses within the agreements that are deemed inappropriate or unnecessary.
The new administration has expressed concern over the agreements made between the Maldives and India. These include the loan agreements and projects such as the development of the naval infrastructure in Uthuru Thila Falhu and the development of Thilamale' Bridge.
