Maldives and Commonwealth discuss climate-related issues

The Maldives and the Commonwealth of Nations have discussed issues related to climate change. The discussion was held during a meeting between President Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Muizzu and Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including climate change, climate financing, the COP28 summit, initiatives of the Commonwealth, digital education, and women's empowerment. The Commonwealth Secretary-General stressed the importance of the Maldives continuing to champion small island states during the climate crisis.

Additionally, President Muizzu highlighted the government’s priorities for digitalisation and women's empowerment. He also highlighted the need for climate adaptation in the Maldives. The Secretary-General congratulated the President on his commencement of office and said that the Commonwealth would support the Maldives by all means possible.
