The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially invited the Maldives to participate in the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28).
During a meeting with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Justice of the UAE Abdullah Bin Sultan Bin Awad Al Nuaimi extended an official invitation to President Muizzu to participate in the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at Expo City Dubai later this month.
During the meeting, President Muizzu said that the UAE is a crucial development partner of the Maldives, highlighting the close ties between the two countries. He underlined the administration's foreign objectives, noting that the foreign policy aims to increase engagements, deepen dialogue, and establish mutually beneficial alliances. He also spoke on the Maldives' debt and disclosed that the administration's central principle for debt management is to expand the economy.
Additionally, President Muizzu expressed gratitude to the leadership and government of the UAE for their support and assistance for the Maldives' socioeconomic growth. The discussions between President Muizzu and Minister Al Nuaimi concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and the UAE.
