Vice President meets officials from China, Cambodia, GCTP

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has met with senior officials from China, Cambodia, and the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) at the President's Office.

As such, Vice President Latheef held a meeting with Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP). They discussed several topics, ranging from collaboration in various sectors to providing opportunities for young people to prosper in their fields.

Additionally, President of GCTP Al Jarwan shared their vision of propagating a culture of tolerance and peace through diverse channels, including education, media, dialogue, and cooperation. He elaborated further on the GCTP’s initiatives, such as scholarships, educational courses, and knowledge exchange programs. In response, Vice President Hussain expressed interest in the potential for these initiatives to train young individuals to become future leaders in their fields.

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also held a meeting with Suos Yara, a Member of the National Assembly of Cambodia and the President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP). During the meeting, they spoke on various bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, including the significance of adopting a universal peace charter and strengthening networking relations in peace and tolerance.

During the meeting, they also discussed enhancing existing cooperation and improving future cooperation in tourism cooperation, food security, cultural connectivity, and the significance of establishing direct flights between the two countries. The President of IPTP additionally encouraged the Maldives to collaborate on promoting peace and tolerance.

During the meeting with the Special Envoy of the Chinese President, State Councillor Shen Yiqin, they discussed the two countries' close bilateral ties based on mutual trust, understanding, respect, and shared interests. Continuing the conversation, they explored avenues of partnership between the two nations, including economic cooperation, financial cooperation and people-to-people contact. Concluding the call, they reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the fraternal bonds of friendship between the two countries.
