Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has stated that the Maldives is looking forward to working together with India on issues of interest.
In a recent post on the X platform, Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar conveyed congratulations to Moosa Zameer on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the new administration. He also expressed commitment to further strengthening the special relationship between India and the Maldives under the new government
In response to the post, Minister Zameer said the Maldives is looking forward to working together with India on issues of interest and concern. He also said he would recalibrate and advance the time-tested relationship between both two countries for the betterment of the citizens.
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was sworn in as the 8th President of the Maldives on November 17. President Dr. Muizzu earlier said that there are issues that need to be resolved between India and the Maldives. As such, he said that the withdrawal of Indian military troops from the Maldives and the restructuring of debt taken by India are some of the issues that the Maldives needs to work with India to resolve.
