Ministry of Education has announced the transformation of Ihaddhoo School in Laamu Atoll into a single-session facility with the completion of its new six-classroom building.
The new building was inaugurated by Minister of State Fathimath Naseer. The school has transitioned to a single-session facility, operating from 0710-1225hrs following the opening of the new structure.
The contract for the construction of the building was awarded to Venza Company Private Limited on December 9, 2021, at a cost of USD400,000. The project aimed to address the space constraints experienced by Ihaddhoo School. With the addition of the new classrooms, the school, which currently has a total of 21 classrooms, can now accommodate 400 students.
As part of the government's efforts to alleviate space constraints in schools, various structural development projects are underway nationwide. The projects include the construction of classroom buildings and multipurpose halls. The total number of single-session facilities has also risen to 150 as part of the initiatives.
